Charge Your EV with Sunshine
Zappi is the world's first solar-aware EV charger, allowing you to charge your car with 100% free energy from your solar panels.
Three charging modes (Eco, Eco+, and Fast) give you complete control over when and how you use grid vs. solar power.
Use the Myenergi app to set timers, use boost functions, and monitor your devices from your phone.
Zappi is compatible with both single-phase and three-phase setups, making it perfect for any residential property in Australia.
Automatically adjusts charging speed to avoid overloading your home’s electrical supply – no need to upgrade your switchboard in most cases.

Myenergi Zappi Installation FAQs
- Inspect your switchboard to check electrical capacity, available circuit space, and overall condition.
- Confirm the Zappi installation location for safe mounting, convenient access to your vehicle, and proper cable routing.
- Run dedicated wiring from the switchboard to the charger location — either surface-mounted or concealed depending on your home layout.
- Mount the Zappi unit securely on a wall or post.
- Install CT clamps on your main incoming supply and/or solar feed (depending on whether you're using solar tracking or grid balancing features). These sensors are crucial for enabling Zappi’s Eco and Eco+ charging modes.
- Route data cables from the CT clamps to the Zappi or Harvi unit. If using Harvi, this step may be wireless, but direct wiring is sometimes necessary for longer distances or improved reliability.
- Configure and commission the charger via the Myenergi app, including setting up Wi-Fi, assigning CT channels, enabling load management, and choosing charging modes (Eco, Eco+, or Fast).
- Test the system by plugging in your EV and confirming the charger starts, stops, and adjusts power levels correctly. We’ll also check solar diversion and app communication if applicable.
- Switchboard Capacity: Your switchboard must have enough space and electrical headroom to support a dedicated EV charging circuit (usually 32A). Older boards may require upgrades or new RCDs/MCBs.
- Mounting Location: The Zappi needs to be mounted on a stable surface within cable reach of your parked EV. Common spots include garage walls, carports, or external house walls – all models are weatherproof.
- CT Clamp Placement: For solar or load management features, CT clamps need to be installed around your main incoming power cables (and solar inverter feed if applicable). In some setups, this may require running data cables from your switchboard to the Zappi, unless you use a Harvi wireless bridge.
- Cable Routing: The cable run between your switchboard and charger should be practical and safe. Routes through ceilings, under houses, or around external walls can affect labour time and materials.
- Wi-Fi Signal Strength: Reliable internet is essential for app control and firmware updates. Ensure your charger location has solid Wi-Fi or consider a signal extender if it’s a weak zone.
- Local Compliance: Some councils, apartment buildings, or strata bodies may require permission for EV charger installation, particularly in shared or multi-dwelling setups.
To ensure a smooth install, we recommend a licensed electrician with Zappi experience assess your home layout and advise on the best setup for solar compatibility, load limits, and your daily charging needs.
- Electrical switchboard capacity (single-phase vs. three-phase).
- Distance from the switchboard to the charger location.
- Required upgrades (e.g., circuit breakers, switchboard).
Yes, the Zappi is fully weatherproof and suitable for outdoor installation. It has an IP65 rating, meaning it’s protected against dust and heavy rain. It can be mounted on an external wall, carport post, or anywhere within reach of your parked vehicle.
We’ll make sure the installation location is safe, compliant, and won’t expose the unit to unnecessary wear from sun or water pooling.
The standard tethered Zappi comes with a 6.5 metre Type 2 charging cable permanently attached. That length is usually enough to reach your EV whether it's nose-in or reverse-parked in most driveways and garages.
There’s also an untethered (socketed) Zappi model available. It doesn’t include a fixed cable — instead, you plug in your own Type 2 cable, which can be useful if you want more flexibility or plan to use the charger with multiple vehicles.
If you're unsure which version is right for you, we can help assess your parking layout and preferences during the quote.
- Single-phase: Delivers up to 7.4 kW charging power. This is suitable for most residential homes in Australia and provides around 40–50 km of range per hour of charging, depending on your EV.
- Three-phase: Supports up to 22 kW charging power. This enables much faster charging, but your home must have a compatible three-phase supply (commonly found in newer or larger properties).
If you're unsure what phase supply you have, our electrician will confirm it during the site assessment.
We offer both options – supply-and-install or install-only – depending on what you need. If you don’t already have a Zappi, we can supply the charger as part of the installation. We’ll make sure you get the correct model for your setup and handle everything from delivery to final testing.
This full-service option includes the latest Zappi unit, so you don’t need to worry about ordering the wrong version or dealing with separate suppliers.
If you’ve already purchased a new Zappi yourself, that’s no problem. We’re happy to carry out a professional install and set everything up for you.
The Myenergi Zappi is a smart EV charger that lets you charge your car using excess solar power when available. It monitors your home’s energy use and solar generation, and automatically prioritises solar energy before using grid power.
When the sun isn’t shining, it works like a standard fast charger using grid electricity. This gives you flexible, solar-friendly charging with zero effort.
- Single-phase: Charges up to 7.4 kW, typical for most Australian homes. This can fully charge an average EV in around 6–8 hours, ideal for overnight use.
- Three-phase: Supports up to 22 kW charging. If your home and vehicle support three-phase charging, you could charge from empty to full in as little as 2–3 hours.
Your actual charge time depends on your EV's onboard charger and battery size. The Zappi will always deliver the maximum charging power your setup and vehicle can accept.
This includes vehicles from Tesla, Hyundai, Nissan, BYD, MG, BMW, Audi, Volvo, and more. In short, Zappi is a universal charger that will safely charge almost any EV or PHEV on the road today.
- Fast: Charges at full speed using grid power whenever needed. It will use any available solar, but always prioritises charging quickly.
- Eco: Blends solar and grid power. It adjusts charging power to use as much solar as possible, while topping up with a small amount of grid power if needed to maintain a steady charge.
- Eco+: Uses only surplus solar power. If there’s not enough solar generation, charging pauses automatically and resumes when surplus solar becomes available again.
These modes let you choose between the fastest possible charge or the most solar-efficient option, depending on your energy setup and daily needs.
Zappi monitors your solar production in real time and diverts any surplus energy to your EV. When your panels are generating more power than your home is using, a CT clamp detects that excess — instead of sending it to the grid, Zappi routes it into your car.
The charge rate automatically adjusts based on solar output, and Zappi’s Eco and Eco+ modes let you choose whether to mix in some grid power or stick strictly to solar-only charging.
This lets you charge your EV with clean, free energy that would otherwise be exported — ideal for getting the most value out of your rooftop solar.
Yes – you can absolutely use a Zappi without any solar or wind generation at home. If you don’t have solar (or it’s night time), the Zappi works like a regular EV charger and simply draws power from the grid.
In Fast mode, it will charge your vehicle at full speed using grid electricity whenever solar isn’t available.
You can install a Zappi now and use it as a standard charger, and later take full advantage of its solar features if you decide to add panels or a home battery.
- Start or stop charging sessions remotely
- Check your EV's charging status in real time
- Set charging schedules to take advantage of off-peak electricity or peak solar production
- Use the boost timer to automatically trigger charging at a specific time (e.g. 2 am for cheaper overnight rates)
This gives you full control over when and how your car charges – helping reduce power costs and ensuring your EV is ready when you need it.
- Internet is only needed if you want to control or monitor charging remotely using the Myenergi app.
- WiFi also enables firmware updates and remote access to energy usage stats.
If you’re not using app-based features, Zappi works perfectly offline — including timed charging and on-unit mode changes.
The Zappi includes a range of smart features that make home charging more efficient and flexible. Through the Myenergi app, you can monitor charging in real time, set timers and schedules, and view detailed energy usage data over time.
It shows you exactly how much energy is coming from solar versus the grid, so you can optimise how and when you charge your EV.
Zappi also includes built-in safety and security features, such as the option to set a PIN code lock to prevent unauthorised use. All of this gives you more control over your charging routine, whether you're focused on saving money, using solar, or managing your energy use.
Yes – Zappi includes detailed energy monitoring through the Myenergi app. You can view graphs and data showing how much electricity your EV has used and how much of that came from solar versus the grid.
In real time, the app shows your home’s import/export status, charger output, and whether you're using surplus solar to charge. This helps you understand your energy consumption and identify the best times to charge for maximum efficiency.
All usage data is logged so you can review your charging patterns by day, week, or month and optimise your routine based on solar availability or off-peak rates.
